Hated… time and time again
Force fed, suppress senseless fear of difference
True self suppression, hollow dreams of misery
Blind wish to see
Indifference to be
Freedom, expressionless bouts of legislation
True self repression, take a stance of fall to your needs
Corrupt in the system
Laws bent to other needs
God fearing idiocy
Ignore just pleas
Blind wish to see
Indifference to be
Ruling powers be
Never really free

The news media are like a pack of sharks circling around waiting for their first sniff of blood in the water. When that blood does seep into the water, the mere thought of a ratings bonanza sends them into frenzy attacking whatever has spilled that blood. This is what we are seeing whenever Trump says something way out in left field. I personally can’t stand Trump. I think he is a phony and a crook. However, I don’t believe he’s stupid as everyone wants to pretend that he is. In fact, I see a very intelligent man who knows how to work the media to do his bidding. Ask yourself this, how do you keep the headlines with your name in it? Establish controversy by saying something so off the wall that the media can’t ignore it. This guy knows the media well since he’s been in it so many times before. He knows how to work the media to keep the limelight on him at all times and thus keeping it off Hillary (unless it’s negative then he lets it be).
I believe the news media is the reason why Trump is, so far, a success. Yes, I blame the media for putting Trump to the forefront of everything. I can’t turn on CNN, MSNBC, FOX or any other news station without being bombarded by Trumps Cheeto tan, raccoon eyes, and ridiculous toupee. I’ve boycotted all news channels because of this. If the media is so inclined to bashing Trump, why are they ignoring the fact that they are giving free air time each time he says something crazy? I seriously doubt the Liberal lean of news media and that what interests them more are ratings rather than political persuasion. If indeed the news media wants to crush Trump then they need only to stop being played by him. We know, though, that they won’t…strike that….they CAN’T resist throwing the limelight on him because, like any addict, they need that ratings fix that is induced by the majority of people who are thrown into a seething anger whenever Trump is mentioned.
This is the media blitz, folks, and it’s tearing our country apart with divisiveness and half truths. Everyone who hasn’t the time to research everything said by every politician simply parrot what the chosen interpretation of a news blurb whether it’s from Trump instigating foreign hackers or the misconstrued idea of “death panels” contained within a healthcare reform legislation. The media tells us what they want us to believe rather than objectively stating the news of the day. Objectivity in the news is long gone and probably will never resurrect from the dead.
Christians have this tendency to scathingly reduce paganism to a false religion that worships idols. First, paganism is an old religion that was around before monotheism became an idea. The monotheistic concept came from a cult that worshiped one God over the others and it then became popular and acceptable. How do we figure this? Well there are two examples from two pagan religions at the time that showed an attempt at solely worshiping one God over the others. With the Greeks, there was a small cult devoted to Zeus as being the only God and the others being archetypes and not true Gods. The Egyptian religion was almost extinguished by Akhenaten who tried to forced his monotheism on the Egyptian people. However, he failed and a lot of his imagery in hieroglyphs were vandalized because of his heresy. So if these two examples, that happened after the advent of monotheism, and the archaeological evidence piling up showing there was some type of polytheism where the monotheistic God Yahweh was a part of then it only shows that monotheism is nothing more than an offshoot of polytheism where one God was revered above all others.
Second, the idea of idols has an empty, hollow overtone to it and I’m sure it’s meant that way, but our pagan religions are filled with life and vibrancy. It’s far from being empty or hollow, it has content. We worship real, living Gods where the idols we worship are imbibed with their spiritual essence. In other words, it’s a way to invite the Gods into our homes and lives. They don’t simply step through the threshold like an intruder. We invite them. It’s not a hard concept to follow and stays in tune with the idea of free will given to us by the Gods.
In conclusion, the idea of idol worship being seen as empty is nonsense. There’s more to it than what monotheists believe. Our religion is as valid as theirs and that’s something they can not take away from us ever again unless we allow it. So, educate them on their ‘idol worship’ epithet they try to use against us. Tell them that it means more than what they believe.
As a current student in the sciences and a polytheistic heathen, this issue strikes deep into my core. Personally, my ability to rationalize what science offers on the table and my religious beliefs are kept compartmentalized into their respective corners of psyche. Science, as we have been taught, explains how the natural world works. Since the Gods, spirits and anything otherworldly is beyond science, beyond the natural and hence supernatural, science can not and will never prove that the supernatural exists or not. No scientific instrument nor method of observation has been formulated specifically for the supernatural, so for a theist or an atheist say that via science the truth is absolutely known. The truth isn’t absolutely known and anyone who states such is basing it off of faith and not fact. Yes, that includes atheism because to state the unknowable as truth is faith in such a personally accepted truth.
People state that there is a war between science and religion and personally I think that’s absolute hokum drummed up by anti-science or anti-religious zealots out there who haven’t the capacity to have an open mind not a civil discussion on how science can thrive even though one is religious. It’s a false dichotomy to believe because is in the science field they must be an atheist or that if someone is religious that they can’t accept scientific facts. If these assertions were true we would’ve shunned Issac Newton and Francis Collins (former head of the Human Genome Project and current director of the National Health Institute), but fortunately we haven’t shunned these folks and our understanding of the natural world is furthered because of them. The only war is in the minds of vapid folks who can’t grasp that people can accept science and their religious beliefs without either side being compromised. So in essence, keep your beliefs, whether it’s theistic or atheistic, out of science. Period. No personal religious/non-religious beliefs need to be injected into science because science can neither prove nor disprove the existence of the supernatural.
Science doesn’t need to be at war with religion and vice versa. People like Richard Dawkins need to stop with their zealotry and step back and realize they are no better than the fundamentalists who want to throw science out the window because it doesn’t adhere to their Young Earth Creationism (Francis Collins doesn’t adhere to this nonsense, but still is a Christian…interesting).
I’ve refrained from entering this fray just to see how things pan out and of course it panned out with the Left shaming the Right as callous animal haters and the Right shaming the Left into being anti-Human folks. I’m going to delve into a little bit of honesty, brutal honesty in fact and it’s not going to be pretty.
First, lets tackle the Rights lament for the Left not having a heart for the down trodden in Africa (or anyone who tries shaming those who support Cecil into feeling guilty), if you truly, TRULY cared about the plight of the downtrodden in Africa and Zimbabwe, you would be there right now sacrificing your cushy First World lifestyle and comfortable leisure time to help those less fortunate than you. Fact is, you really don’t give a damn at all about those who are suffering in Africa or elsewhere. You’re simply trying to make those who support Cecil feel like crap for what they hold dear to their hearts. I feel that you are worse than those you are trying to shame because it’s simply fake. So for the sake of actual, true humanity, just stop it unless you’re willing to put your money where your mouth is and lead by example instead of strong words.
Second, the issue of Cecil is disturbing and I truly believe that lions should be placed on the endangered species list and that Cecil should serve as the figurehead of this much needed change. However, this has been ongoing for years now, illegal poaching/trophy hunting, and NOW people are realizing the problem? This is sickening and should have been addressed years ago, but because of the complacency of our apex species (yes apex because with our ability to innovate and our technology we have spread worldwide which makes us the dominant species) we’ve only begun to raise awareness for a travesty that may be too late. We’ve also become quite callous to all life including our own. My fear is that once the Cecil Furor dies down so will our faux compassion for animals. We have become a sensation driven society that we have collective ADD where one issue trumps another issue until the next issue comes along to knock the previous one off the mantel. We either need to stick to our guns or just simply be lulled back into our complacency for good. There’s no sense in jumping from one issue to another without ever fully fixing the problem. Yeah, it’s great that airlines won’t be shipping trophy heads of animals, but that’s one small solution for a relatively big problem and that’s to a) get endangered species onto the endangered species list and b) prosecute these folks to the fullest extent of the law with NO exceptions.
All life should be considered sacred and the death and plight of a living being should be met with sadness because we’re all related whether you believe a deity created us all or that we emerged from a common ancestor millions of years ago.
Brothers shall fight | and fell each other,
And sisters’ sons | shall kinship stain;
Hard is it on earth, | with mighty whoredom;
Axe-time, sword-time, | shields are sundered,
Wind-time, wolf-time, | ere the world falls;
Nor ever shall men | each other spare. – Voluspa 45
As I’ve stated many times on this blog, I’m on a quest to unite all religious faiths who stand for Liberty and Freedom in the United States of America and who believe fervently in American Exceptionalism. First, I have to attempt to establish communications and understanding between those of us who are Conservative/Libertarian Pagans and Conservative Christians. It makes sense considering Christianity is the majority faith in America and has much to do with the foundation of our country regardless of what many people tend to believe. However, I am not without my fears. My fear tends to be summed up by the above quote from our holy text the Voluspa. I think anyone of any faith can see the quote above happening today in our society.
Pagans practice a false religion
I tend to watch Wild Bill for Americas videos on YouTube and read conservative blogs like Ann Barnhardt and what I run into a lot of the times is the quote above. I understand that in their beliefs that there is only one God and that their Commandments set forth by their God is the rules they follow. That’s admirable considering our society has little to no values these days and that people with some sort of integrity and honor still exist today, but Christians do need to understand that people possess free will and will choose their beliefs accordingly. They don’t have to agree, they just have to afford the respect to those of us who aren’t Christians as they expect others to afford to them. I don’t agree with Christianity, but I respect the adherents and their beliefs. Even when I’m proselytized to by them I feel no offense and simply keep the respect for their beliefs in mind. There are non-Christians who tend to get offended by such things, but I keep in mind that if I feel offense to preaching than its a matter of weak faith as opposed to actually feeling offended.
You’re going to burn in Hell
Once again, this is something I’m not offended by not because I don’t believe in some place of eternal damnation (I’m sure there is, Hitler, Stalin and pol pot can’t share the same afterlife such as genuinely good people), but because I feel it is something expressed out of concern for the well-being of ones soul in the afterlife. But once again it’s up to Christians to understand that not everyone believes their is false or evil. Christians can repeatedly express their belief that our religion is false or contrived by the Devil, but it makes it no more true than stating that Jesus was actually the Devil incarnate to create a schism within the Jewish community. Paganism has been around much longer than any monotheistic religion and so to state that those who still practice paganism will go to Hell is ridiculous. However, I do respect the intention behind the sentiment, as long as it’s benevolent and not malevolent.
Worship the Creator, not the created
There’s a big difference between worshiping the created, which tends to be more of pantheism than polytheism, and worshipping the Creator, which most pagans do but just different Creators than Yahweh. There are areas that get fuzzy and seems as if we are worshipping the created, but it’s more of a respect for the spirits imbued within the created such as land wights or land spirits, but for the most part we worship the Creators of our world more so. We just tend to balance both worship of our Creators and respect for the created without forgetting either.
Now that we have cleared up a few things, understanding is the key to the gateway that leads to uniting all Americans against the tyranny currently ebbing it’s way into our society. My fear is that the lack of understanding between Judeo-Christians and pagans will keep the divide growing beyond an incomprehensible depth. We need to keep the spirit of our Nation, which is indicated in the full name of our country United States of America. We need to be united and strong against adversity and care for each other despite our differences in faith. If any Christian would like to counter my points, go for it! If it helps establish understanding between us all than I encourage it. I pray to the Gods for it, because our nation desperately needs to understand each other without being crass and uncivil. And if we disagree with each other than we need to disagree respectfully without resorting to name calling and childish ad hominems.
Common Sense these days seems to be an extinct beast that once lumbered through the forests of rational thought millions of years ago. When you look at situations such as the Ebola outbreak and how it would be an excellent idea to ban flights coming from Ebola stricken areas, not sending our military to “combat” Ebola, and fixing our porous borders to the whole Raven Symone bruhaha that the race baiters and hustlers have made a big deal about. Common sense no longer finds its seat amongst the minds of Americans anymore. Instead, political correctness and people becoming too sensitive to everything and anything that might remotely be offensive (while offending others in the process) has taken the drivers seat of human consciousness. We feel first before, if ever, thinking about it within the framework of rational thought. What exactly has happened to our society that we have come to this point in our history?
One of the reasons common sense is on the decline is that political ideology, both Left and Right, have contributed to the anti-intellectualism that seems to be infesting our nation. Political elitists don’t appreciate people who think outside of the paradigm of political ideology because that means a challenge to their demi-god status of faux know it alls. You simply can’t have that when you wish to be the omnipotent shepherd of We the Sheeple. It’s simple, when people are given free range to think for themselves outside of political ideologies, more solutions to problems are created. However, when a variable is suppressed because the oligarchs want to seem like they are doing something useful with their position of power, garnering votes in the process, you have a limited supply of solutions because the people are thoroughly divided and simply can not unite together on common ground in order to find solutions together via brain storming. Political zealotry tends to, in the end, strangle common sense in its sleep.
This is the belief that race is remotely important within the Human Species. We regard it as some sacred holy cow on a golden pedestal despite the constant clamoring for people to not judge by color. In the hyper-hypocritical world we live in, we judge by color in different ways than back in the early to mid 20th Century. Instead, we judge whites as privileged ingrates who are inherently racist no matter what they say and blacks are afforded the victim card no matter who was at fault or for what reason they supposedly were discriminated against. We make no attempts to back up the fact that race is illusionary and should be derided as such whenever someone brings it up. When you have people like Raven Symone and Morgan Freeman who are willing to ditch divisive racial labels being attacked vociferously because of their logical viewpoints, you have seriously step back and question what is the true motives of those attacking those who cast aside the shackles of racial labels. If these folks who trash clear minded people like Ms Symone and Mr Freeman actually, truly thought about racial labels they would realize that racial labels help establish stereotypes. Think about it when a black person chides another black person who speaks proper English as “acting white” you then realize that racial labels DO in fact create stereotypes. Speaking properly and acting responsibly isn’t acting any race it’s being a respectable human being and nothing more. It is simply common sense to ditch racial labels all together. They do nothing but harm the human race while furthering the divide between us all.
I probably could write a book concerning the extinction of common sense in our society, but I think two glaring examples will suffice and drive home the point that common sense is an endangered species in this society of ours. Hopefully, this will inspire others to touch upon other areas that I have missed and help spread awareness that common sense is on the decline no matter how small it may seem, each perspective helps. So lets hashtag this #CommonSenseIsDying and make people aware of the fact.
For years, the dwellers of gated communities, chiefly those who the run the country, keep making decisions on OUR behalf that ONLY affect us. From ObamaCare to shipping illegals who may or may not be violent, diseased ridden or all of the above, into OUR communities the elite in power don’t care about their decisions and how it affects us. That’s because they feel absolutely safe behind the walls of their gated communities. And that is the crux of the problem, they are cut off from reality, they are cut off from the ordinary people they rule like kings over. We are in the middle of the new serfdom where the oligarchs tax us and say it’s for our benefit. Of course, in the course of taxation they pad their pockets with our money and give themselves raises for doing hardly anything worth while. The Republicans and Democrats are both fascists cloaked differently in order to prop up the illusion of democracy in this country. This isn’t some conspiracy theory nonsense, hell I don’t even like Alex Jones, it’s simply common sense backed by observation. Just observe the actions of the politicians from both sides of the aisle and you will see in plain sight the similarities between the two heads of the fascist hydra currently residing in DC.
Instead of the People realizing this and uniting against the fascism in this country the oligarchs pull our strings and make us dance to their whim whether it’s the class warfare cry or racial instigation to keep us thoroughly divided. If we can’t unite beyond petty differences like race, religion, political ideology and whatever else then the elitists in power have no fear of losing their grip on power. So, for now the elitists who behind their gated walls conspire to keep us complacent subjects by promising things they can never deliver, but that’s part of the illusion anyways.
A much as I believe that any Third Party that gains power will simply do the same I do believe as well that a Third Party candidate defeating a major party candidate will send shockwaves to the elitists that they are no longer safe from the consequences of their decisions on our behalf. I think the Libertarian Party, Green Party and whomever else willing to confront the oligarchs will rile up DC and get them realizing something: that they aren’t invincible. Oligarchs need to be reminded where the true power lies and it’s definitely not with them, but with us the common folk.
Those of us clamoring for a leader towards the future of Liberty and the vanquishing of fascism in this country need to become leaders ourselves. If no one else is going to step up to the plate then it is our sacred duty and honor to take the lead. We can’t wait any longer for a new George Washington or Ronald Reagan, but to become those people ourselves. We must look inside and find that leader in each of us and to create not followers, but new leaders. We must not ever become a nation of followers, but a nation of leaders. Followers progress us nowhere but towards tyranny.
Lead, Do Not Follow.
These days I find politics and political ideologies to be as cold and lifeless as a dead fish sitting in a grocers display case. The eyes of political ideologies lack any sign of life and soul. There’s nothing you can find in them that is full of life anymore. It’s a stagnant morass of wannabe revolutionaries (whether it’s the wannabe American revolutionaries or the wannabe Bolshevik Revolutionaries) looking for a fight they possibly could never go through with unless they were die-hard killers. That’s why I remain and always will remain politically unlabeled and unaligned. You will see me contribute money to both Tea Party groups when the Constitution and freedom are threatened and to Socialist/Labor groups when workers rights are threatened. I believe in a perfect balance between the two in order to have a better and thriving society. I find both sides of the political spectrum are useful to the maintaining of our country. No one one side should EVER have complete and absolute control. It’s wrong and immoral. Many will disagree, but that is your right to do so and I will fight to the bloody death in order to secure that right from wannabe revolutionaries looking to establish the next Dictatorship of the Bourgeois or Dictatorship of the Proletariat.
At times I become so apathetic towards politics that I simply slip away for months without ever looking at a news website, watching Glenn Beck or even writing in this blog, but recently my girlfriend and I plan on having a child and thus has become my duty to become vigilant when it comes to politics both here in the US and abroad. As our society becomes more globalization helped along by technology it’s prudent to stay on top of current events such as the Crisis in Iraq and Common Core because the long-term ramifications for our future child will be poignant.
So what exactly do I believe? It’s better to just list my beliefs:
I believe in gay marriage
How exactly do two people of the same gender marrying affect me? It seriously doesn’t much like Brittany Spears and other celebrities who abuse the institution of marriage for their own attention whoring.
I believe in the 2nd Amendment
The right for people to own guns should always be upheld because it ensures that the government will always be afraid of it’s citizens because they can and will always be armed to the teeth. That’s how it should be, the government fearing its citizens rather than citizens being fearful of their government.
I believe in religious rights
Christians today are taking a pounding by secularists maybe for good reason, but bashing an entire religion on the merits of a few really is silly. Plus, banning things like a cross erected 5 decades ago bought and paid for by ordinary citizens is even more silly. Leave it alone, it’s a memorial to the dead. Also, a Christian business should be given the right to put their business at risk by denying patronage to gay couples. In the end, they’ll revoke their own ban due to low amount of customers patronizing their business.
I believe Common Core is evil
Common Core reduces competition between good and bad schools by leveling the playing field. It also brings with it strange ways of doing math for example. The new way of math makes it harder for parents to their duty as parents and help their children scholastically. It makes schools more dependent on the Federal government as opposed to local communities and the people who fund those schools with their tax money. Taking examples from totalitarian and failing countries is not a good way to reform our education system.
I believe in Universal Healthcare
Obamacare is the biggest foul up ever to grace our country. I believe in Universal Healthcare, but I think it needs a more 21st Century revision in order to make it work effectively without putting peoples lives at risk. It needs to take the Hippocratic Oath to the fullest extent. It doesn’t need to be the rationed out healthcare that Conservatives are afraid of. With brilliant minds and innovation we Americans could make it work better than the European brand of Universal Healthcare.
I believe in School Choice
Every parent should be able to choose what type of school their child goes to whether it’s public or private or even home schooling and have it be affordable as well. The misplaced fear in George W. Bush voucher program was nothing more than Liberals wishing to subjugate parental choice. This to me is treasonous in that Liberals are forgoing a childs future for their own political gain.
I believe in being environmentally friendly
Lets face it, no one wants dirty air, polluted waters or to have the beautiful scenery that Nature bestows upon us to be blotted out by vast concrete and asphalt strip malls and parking lots. So, it is our duty as sentient beings to want to take care of the environment and make sure no more animals go extinct because of our existence.
I don’t believe Socialism/Communism is the answer
Now, I’m sure the naysayers will be quick to point out that my support of Universal Healthcare is hypocritical, however I don’t believe so. I can accept one component of an ideology without supporting the entire ideology itself. Communism/Socialism just simply does not work when applied to the real world. It lacks factoring in the fact that it’s usurping rights from people and human nature itself.
I believe Capitalism does need to be reformed for the 21st Century
The current form of capitalism is based off the Industrial Revolution, which has long since withered away to allow the Information/Digital Revolution to flourish, so it’s without any doubt that capitalism needs to be retrofitted for our 21st Century reality. Factories and other industries are slowly but surely giving way to automation and having capitalism still holding on the ancient remains of the Industrial Revolution does nothing to help people and in fact gives the Communists/Socialists credence in their ideology that capitalism is slowly dying.
I don’t believe in amnesty for illegals
As someone who is the son of a legal immigrant from Latin America, giving amnesty and all these amenities to illegal, law-breaking immigrants is a slap in the face to those who went through the process of citizenship the legal way. If these illegals want citizenship then they need to go about it the way everyone has.
I believe in a secured border
We need to secure our border and even put up an extensive wall along our border in order to secure our nation from illegal immigration and from intrusions from Mexican drug cartels and the Mexican military.
I believe political correctness is wrong
People need to really grow a thick skin and stop being offended by every little thing that comes out. What kind of life is it to find offense at everything around you? You don’t have the right to not be offended. Welcome to reality.
I believe in a non-racist, all inclusive nationalism
I think its important that all legal American citizens regardless of race, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, religion and political ideology to express pride in their country. Since pride in country tends to run contrary of the internationalist beliefs of most Left leaning ideologies the opposing idea is of course nationalism. Nationalism isn’t inherently racist in nature and especially with a diverse country such as America nationalism can not be racist.
I support the 10th Amendment
The idea of giving more power to the states and the people and restricting power given to the Federal government is just common sense. As we can clearly see the power lust that Federal government has is a clear and present danger to American citizens. We need to get back rights for the states to choose what is good for their state and not be bullied by the government to accept things the Federal government wants to impose like Common Core.
There’s more things I can bullet point that I support, but it tends to be a long list so this gives you an idea of why I believe in what I believe and why I have a problem simply sticking to any party line. I’m just some person stuck in the center of politics and find the Left-Right rift to be ridiculous.
